Over the past years, HP users have faced various audio problems. From outdated HP audio drivers to a distorted sound production, here are the common issues and how to easily fix them, as well as how to update the audio drivers. 

Common HP Audio Issues & How to Solve Them

1. No Sound: If your HP computer is not producing any sound, first check if the volume is muted or turned down. Navigate to the speaker icon in the system tray and adjust the volume settings. Additionally, ensure that external speakers or headphones are correctly connected. If the issue persists, go to the Device Manager, locate the audio device, and update or reinstall the audio driver (explained in the next section). .
2. Distorted or Crackling Sound: If you're experiencing distorted or crackling sounds during audio playback, start by updating the audio driver to the latest version. Check for loose or damaged cables if you're using external speakers or headphones. Adjusting the audio settings to a lower quality, such as lowering the sample rate, can also help mitigate distortion.
3. Microphone Not Working: If your microphone isn't working, ensure it's properly plugged in and check the microphone settings in the Sound control panel. Update or reinstall the audio driver, and if possible, test the microphone on another device to rule out hardware issues.
4. Missing or Disabled Audio Devices: In case your audio devices are missing or disabled, open the Device Manager and enable or reinstall any disabled devices. Ensure that your audio drivers are up-to-date, as outdated or corrupted drivers can lead to missing devices in the Device Manager (explained in the next section).
5. Audio Lag or Delay: If you're experiencing audio lag or delay, update the audio driver to the latest version. Adjust audio settings such as buffer size in audio software or control panels. Check for background processes or applications consuming excessive system resources, as they may contribute to delays in audio playback.

How To Install HP Audio Drivers

In order to install the latest HP audio drivers, you need to download the corresponding files. To do so, kindly scroll to the bottom of the page, complete the Captcha successfully, and press the download button. Now that the files are downloaded, locate them, right-click on the folder and extract the files. 

The folder will contain separate subfolders for the following operating systems: Windows, Linux and Mac operating system. Depending on which system you're using, open the corresponding folder. 

Windows users will find executable files, which they can run them by simply double clicking on them. On the other hand, Mac users will find a DMG archive. In order to install this type of file simply drag the archive into the applications section. This will automatically trigger the installation. 

Last but not least, Linux users will find a tar file. To open this type of archive, you'll need to use the Terminal (Ctrl + Alt + T). Type cd /home/yourusername/Desktop/program-1.2.3 (replace with the correct name) to navigate to the directory of the file. Usually, tar archives come with a INSTALL, INSTALL.txt, README file, which the Terminal can read if you type xdg-open INSTALL (or the name of the installation file) into the console. 

The only steps left are the setup instructions. These include the ./configure, make, sudo make install commands (followed by a proper file name).
